How to FTP Files to Us
If time is of the essence -- so you can't send something even overnight -- yet the files for your artwork are too large to send as an attachment to email, there is another option: ftp or File Transfer Protocol, the set of Internet standards that allow users (you) to copy a file or files from the hard drive of your computer to the hard drive of ours -- over the Internet.
We have a file server on our network that is set up to accept files via ftp. You can make the connection like this:
URL: ftp://199.6.38.30
USER ID: anonymous
PASSWORD: your email address (i.e., yourname@domain.com)
This has been tested using Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera. You will probably get better results if you use a dedicate ftp client. (Such as
WS_FTP,
SmartFTP,
DeluxeFTP,
et al.) If you have trouble getting your connection accepted, take your client out of passive mode.
We do sometimes turn the ftp service off, so please check with us if you have trouble accessing it You will only be able to access the ftp root folder.
Just as you are able to access this folder pretty easily, so can anybody else. Anybody else. So: unless you don't mind your stuff being visible to anyone on the Internet who happens by, please be sure to let us know right away that you've uploaded something. (It's even better if you tell us in advance, so we can be watching while you do it.) That way, we can move it out of the public folder right away.
